- The White House wants to appoint a high-powered czar to oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with authority to issue directions to the Pentagon, the State Department and other agencies, but it has had trouble finding anyone able and willing to take the job...
At least three retired four-star generals...have declined to be considered for the position...underscoring the administration's difficulty in enlisting its top recruits to join the team after five years of warfare that have taxed the United States and its military.
Which leads into the idea most eloquently expressed by The Nations Ms. Katrina vanden Heuvel on Monday Nights Colbert Report:

The Son of a Bush. A little bit, but there is plenty of evidence he is just a figurehead. "Tricky" Dick Cheney and his Neo-Con Posse. A little bit more, but it's not like they didn't announce to the World their intentions. The American People for being foolish enough to reelect these fools. Once again only a little. The Main Stream Media. Hell yeah.
